‘Very generally, I could say that I look for remarkable situations that excite me, and that I try to convey my emotion to those who look at the images. Work is an important and basically little-told subject, yet for me there is nothing more interesting than human sensitivity and ingenuity grappling with a problem to solve. I like to tell about the know-how of people, the intelligence of their hands, and in the theme of work I find these skills in action every day”.
These are the words with which Danilo Borrelli describes the type of photographs he takes for Sice Previt. We borrow them to introduce a selection of his shots taken in 2023.
In these twenty years of collaboration, Borrelli has developed an intimate knowledge of the company and a precise style for telling its story: a visual universe that now coincides with our own imagery of Sice, as a set of many connected but different worlds: construction sites, production workshops, people.
It is a style that resonates deeply with our vision and identity, without which we would not even be able to tell our story today. One loses count of the number of times we have shown a photograph to explain what we do: most of the time, without this collection of images, we would not have had words to say it.
Borrelli’s industrial photographs are restrained and direct. They aim to enhance the visible without embellishing it, and to highlight human labor-the gesture, the toil, the skill. Sometimes they gently emphasize the ironic and somewhat wonderful side of the world of things. We know that Danilo wants his photographs to reflect the mood he senses all around, because so much “almost always reality is far superior to fantasy” and gives unique moments.
A poetics that is also felt in this small selection of recent photographs.
Plays of light and shapes characterize the various shots, offering images from time to time on the borderline between balance and dynamism. The settings reflect the Sice reality: construction sites, workshops, production departments, stores. The red of the jackets connects the images, signaling the network of people at work that is the real backbone of Sice. The set portraits, springing from a deep familiarity, emphasize what moves us every day: the passion for quality, the dedication, the desire to do well.
